How MedScannr works.
From setup to scan — here's exactly what happens when someone scans your QR code, and how your privacy stays protected throughout.
Build your emergency profile.
Your profile has two layers. The first is critical info — seen by anyone who scans your QR code. The second is extended info — protected by a PIN you control.
Critical info — always visible
Name, date of birth, blood type, primary conditions, known allergies, and one-tap emergency contacts. No PIN needed.
Extended info — PIN-protected
Full medication list with dosages, detailed medical history, physician contacts, insurance info. Share the PIN with your doctors and trusted people.
Get your personal QR code.
Once you save your profile, MedScannr generates a permanent QR code linked to your profile. It works with any phone camera — no app, no account needed to scan.
Where to put it:
Pro users get printable wallet card templates and 3D-printable medical tag templates.
In an emergency, info is instant.
A first responder, nurse, or bystander points their phone camera at your QR code. No app. No account. They immediately see:
- Name and age
- Blood type
- Critical conditions and allergies
- Emergency contacts with tap-to-call
The extended info — full medication list, dosages, medical history — requires your PIN. You share that PIN with your physicians and trusted contacts in advance.
You control what's visible.
MedScannr uses a three-tier privacy model: public, PIN-protected, and owner-only. Sensitive insurance identifiers and physician contact details stay owner-only by default, and every public or PIN-based access is logged.
